The nutritional value on 30 species of macroalgae representative of eastern Venezuela, from the Pozuelos and Mochima Bays and in the Restinga and Marites Lagoons was determined based on the content and distribution of organic and inorganic components. The highest average of proteins and organic nitrogen was found in the Pozuelos Bay which corresponds to Rhodophyta (25.76 and 4.12 %), followed by Chlorophyta (18.03 and 2.89 %) and Phaeophyta (17.56 and 2.74 %). Macroalgae present high contents of carbohydrates (52.32 %) in Caulerpa racemosa in Mochima Bay and low contents of carbohydrates in Halimea tuna (4.36 %), in the Pozuelos bay. According to a posteriori comparison made by Ducan, carbohydrates are found decreasingly in the Chlorophyta (37.99%), Rhodophyta (33,61 %) and Phacophyta (26.38 %) with an inverse behavior of carbohydrates with organic and inorganic compounds. The fat contents in macroalgae behaves inversely to proteins but increases in the Rhodophyta (4.82 %), the Chlorophyta (7.19 %) and Phaeophyta (8.67 %) divisions. High values of fat in the Marites (8.39 %) and the Restinga (8.08 %) Lagoons and low values in the Pozuelos (6.29%) and Mochima (6.27 %) Bays. Halimeda tuna from Pozuelos Bay presentes the highest value in ashes (92.64 %) while Caulerpa sertularioides from the Restinga Lagoon presents the lowest (6.27 %); the highest average corresponds to the Clorophyta (18.90 %). In general, macroalgae present low contents of phosphorous and the variance analysis is not significant among the several divisions and location as for as proteins, nitrogen, fat, phosphorus and ration N/P is concerned; carbohydrates, on the other hand, are significant in the division. The hydric contents is high in Rhodophyta (94.21 %), Phaephyta (89.42 %) and Chlorophyta (87.95 %). The heavy metals show discrepancies in their concentrations among the different species, divisions and locations. The Cu decreases from the Phaeophyta (10.52 µg/g) and Rhodophyta (9.64 µg/g) to the chlorophyta (4.48 µg/g). The species with highest contents of Cu are located in Pozuelos Bay (10.90 µg/g), low and comparable values are found in the Restinga and Marites Bays, (5.47 µg/g and 4.14 µg/g), respectively, the minimum values are found in Mochima Bay (3.11 µg/g). Mn is high in Phaeophyta (44.39 %), moderate in chlorophyta (19.86 g/g) and low in Rhodophyta (9.60 g/g). Fe, behaves differently from Cu and Mn in the Rhodophyta (1361 µg/g), Phaeophyta (680 µg/g) and Chlorophyta (467 g/g). Zn appears similar to Fe in Rhodophyta (205 µg/g), Phaeophyta (155 g/g) and Chlorophyta (467 mg/g). Zn appears similar to Fe in Rhodophyta (205 mg/g), Phaeophyta (155 mg/g) and Chlorophyta (118 mg/g) divisions. T e variance analysis is not significant for Cu, Mn, Zn, in the divisions and locations, non significant also for Fe in locations and higly significant for Fe in the divisions.
