Eleven flukes identified as Lasiotocus longovatus (HOPKINS 1941) THOMAS 1959 were found in blind and
intestine of two specimens of Black grunt Haemulon bonariense (Haemulidae), caught in Mochima Bay. This parasites were
fixed in Bouin, stained with acetocarmine Semichon´s, cleared in clove oil and mounted in Canada balsam. The investigated
specimens were identified as belonging to the species L. longovatus due to the presence of an oral-terminal funnel-shaped
ventral sucker; female terminal organ bipartite, with spine in the distal portion and unarmed genital atrium. This species is
described for the first time for Venezuela, so expanding its geographic range and confirms the high specificity for the host.
