GENOTOXICIDAD EN CÉLULAS SANGUÍNEAS DE ANCISTRUS BREVIFILIS (EIGENMANN, 1920); (SILURIFORMES, LORICARIIDAE) BAJO CONDICIONES CONTROLADAS Y EN DOS LOCALIDADES DEL RÍO MANZANARES, ESTADO SUCRE, VENEZUELA

Abstract

Genotoxic effect due to pollutants from agricultural activities on blood cells of Ancistrus brevifilis in the Manzanares
river was evaluated through acute toxicity test to sublethal doses of glyphosate (0, 1, 3 and 5 ppm), a chronic toxicity test and in situ
detection by exposure to sediments in Guasdua and Yoraco locations. Cell viability, level of DNA damage by micronucleus and comet
assay was determined. The average number of viable cells was 90.53%. The highest dose of glyphosate resulted in the biggest number
of micronuclei and nuclear aberrations. Also were found differences by type of comet tail length of comet with the control group. In
sediments, there were differences in: micronuclei by exposure time; nuclear alterations for both exposure times to the type of sediment
and the comet assay, for exposure time and type of sediment. In situ detection show significant differences between: micronuclei, and
type of comet tail length for the locations Guasdua and Yoraco. The sensitivity of the comet assay and micronucleus test varied with
experimental conditions.
