EVALUACIÓN ESPACIO TEMPORAL DE LA DISTRIBUCIÓN Y DENSIDAD DE TRES ESPECIES DE GASTERÓPODOS MARINOS ASOCIADOS A LA PESQUERÍA EN EL EJE PUNTA ARAYA-CHACOPATA, ESTADO SUCRE

Abstract

Despite the need to propose management plans for the snail fishery resource, using scientific information, there are few studies conducted in Venezuela. Therefore, the distribution and density of three species of marine gastropods (Chicoreus brevifrons, Phyllonotus pomum and Fasciolaria tulipa) of greater commercial importance were evaluated in three areas of the Punta Araya-Chacopata axis, Sucre state. There were two types of sampling, biological and fishery. In the biological one, specimens were counted and collected on November 2017 and May 2018. Data on surface water temperature, wind speed, upwelling index, chlorophyll a and rainfall were obtained. Fishery sampling was carried out from September 2017 to June 2018. Data on fishing catch and effort were recorded. For the three species, there were no differences in density between months. Differences in density were found between zones for P. pomum (F = 3,385; p = 0,017). Differences were presented for the CPUE in the three fishing methods with maximum values of 4,77 (kg/hours of diving) and less than 0,40 (kg/1000m2). The differences in density, environmental variables, and CPUE, are possibly associated with the space-time dynamics of the area, fishing method, and period evaluated.
