The aim of the present study was to determine which species of decapod crustaceans live in association with the sea urchin Tripneustes ventricosus in La Borracha island, Mochima National Park, Anzoátegui, Venezuela. Sea urchins were collected manually while freediving in shallow waters, between January and April 2013. A total of 17 urchins were collected and a total of 47 specimens belonging to three different species of decapod crustaceans were observed: Gnathophylloides mineri (family Gnatophyllidae, 44 organisms), Mithraculus forceps, and Theleophrys pococky (family Mithracidae, two and one specimen, respectively). This is the second record of G. mineri for Venezuela and the first for Mochima National Park. Also, Theleophrys pococky is a new addition to the carcinofauna of Venezuela. Lastly, this is the first record of two crabs in association with the sea urchin T. ventricosus.
